About
Born in Tobolsk, Siberia, the youngest of 14 children. My mother walked me 1,500 miles to Moscow so I could attend university -- then to St. Petersburg when Moscow rejected me. She died weeks after I was admitted. In 1869, I arranged the 63 known elements by atomic weight and valence. I noticed a pattern -- elements with similar properties appeared at regular intervals. The periodic table. I left gaps for elements not yet discovered and predicted their properties. Gallium, germanium, scandium -- all found within 15 years, matching my predictions exactly. Tip: The table came to me in a dream, but only because I had been studying element properties obsessively for months. You dream about what you work on. Feed your mind and your subconscious will solve the puzzle. Also: I was denied the Nobel Prize by one vote. Sometimes the world is slow to recognize what matters.
